Visual Regression Guard

After you save a page in Elementor, the editor captures the preview, compares it with the last capture, and opens a split view if enough pixels changed. Rollback uses the previous Time Machine version. Snapshots live in uploads/ltxe-vr/ for 15 minutes. Off by default.

How to use it

1. Turn on "Platform: Visual Regression Guard" under Settings → Add-on features.
2. Turn on Time Machine if you want one-click rollback from the overlay.
3. Edit a page in Elementor and click Update. A status chip says “Checking for visual changes…” while the preview is captured.
4. If enough pixels changed, a split view opens: before on the left, after on the right, changed regions in red.
5. Choose Low, Medium or High to re-run the compare. Looks good dismisses the overlay. Rollback restores the previous Time Machine version and reloads the editor.

Notes

• Autosaves are ignored. The capture uses the Elementor preview iframe and a bundled html2canvas 1.9.0 build (editor only, never on the published site).
• Snapshots are written to uploads/ltxe-vr/ and expire after 15 minutes. They are PNG or JPEG files, not Elementor JSON.
• This is not Client Feedback or Design Review. Those pin comments. This compares pixels after a save.
• Developers: POST /wp-json/landtech-extras/v1/visual-regression/snapshot (edit_post), POST …/compare, GET …/result, POST …/dismiss, POST …/rollback (edit_post; rollback requires Time Machine).
